"The variety of his forms, the pureness of the weird element in many of the poems, the cosmic outlook and sweeping scale of at least some of them, the ofttimes mordant and sardonic tone and the poignant mixture of beauty and death which feature in his work, and the focus on themes of intrusion from the unknown, must combine to make us acclaim Donald Wandrei as not simply a unique talent, but as one of the most distinguished poets in the weird field." from Ecstasies and Odysseys: The Weird Poetry of Donald Wandrei by Leigh Blackmore

Donald Wandrei (1908-1987) is perhaps best remembered as an author of imperishable weird tales; as a co-founder with August Derleth of Arkham House; and as a friend and protégé of H. P. Lovecraft. But from an early age he also showed himself to be a superb and sensitive poet.

In Wandrei's centennial year we released this magnificent collection, assembling all the poems which appeared in previous collections of his poetry, together with recently discovered works in both verse and prose-poetry.

As an added bonus, illustrations by his brother Howard Wandrei for many of the poems are reproduced, some for the first time.

Also available, both in hardcover and as a free download, is A Concordance to the Poetry of Donald Wandrei, compiled by Phillip A. Ellis
